If you take the world as a whole, the total amount of water out there doesn’t change.
Some areas lack water…
…while others have too much.
So, it’s not always distributed in the best way for everyone. However, the only solution is to re-distribute what we have, because the total amount is fixed.
Water can be stored in one place for a while…
…but it is also transferred from one place to another.
Water is constantly being recycled: flowing through the landscape, evaporating into the atmosphere, falling to earth as rain.
It’s as it flows across the land that we often step in, to divert some of the water for our needs.
We will be looking at some examples over the coming weeks.
